We are a rental co-living space for artists on the historic Meinke-McColl family farm in San Leandro

ArtFarm provides below-market-rate rental housing for humans making art & community in the SF Bay Area.

Being an artist while living in the SF Bay Area can seem financially impossible.

Art Farm seeks to provide affordable housing for artists, and to create intentional community for artists, for many generations on this land.

By creating a community land trust, we permanently remove this property from the for-profit real estate market.  

Creating a peaceful sanctuary where we live in community, making art for generations.

the long‑term plan: 

Over time, the ArtFarm will be placed into a community land trust, permanently charging below-market rates. This land and this home will be removed from pure capitalism forever.

Our legal structure will ensure our residents and our alumni have a permanent voice in governance.

the short‑term plan: 

Initial residents are the early co‑stewards. Together we will create a culture that fosters community, connection, art, and a sense of home.

The third of three artist residents will be selected in late 2026.
